  2. What is Eyebrow Microblading?

Microblading is a manual (done by hand) semi-permanent makeup technique where a special microblading blade, extremely thin and sharp, is used to draw on strokes that mimic the appearance and flow of real brow hairs. Microblading fills in the sparse or empty areas of your eyebrows to achieve a realistic and natural brow look.

  3. What is Shading?

Shading is a manual technique that acts as an add-on to microblading. Shading adds a soft touch of color in between the microblading hair strokes to give your brows more fullness. The shading intensity and darkness can be customized to each client’s desired taste. This is great if you have thin brows, many sparse areas or natural thick coarse hairs. The shading will help give the brows a more blended appearance thus making the brows look more full and whole.

  4. What is Powder Brows?

This is a permanent makeup machine technique coloring in the brows in a gradient effect from the beginning of the brow to the tail starting from light and fading to dark to give your brows a soft ombre look. This is for clients looking for a more “makeup-like”. This technique is also better for clients with extremely oily skin.

  5. What is Combination Brows?

This is a mix between microblading and powder brows. The front half of the brow is microbladed, keeping it natural and fluffy with hair strokes while the rest of the tail is colored in to keep it sharp, clean and defined. The best of both worlds!

  6. Does it hurt?

Secondary numbing is used during all permanent makeup procedure.

No numbing is used prior due to the change in skin texture and pigment retention. Numbing causes the skin to become very thick and rubbery which makes depositing pigment into the skin a challenge. With microblading, natural and smooth looking hairstrokes won’t be achievable. Numbing swells up the skin which will change the shape agreed on. This is due to water pushed to the surface of the skin therefore pigment won’t retain well.

Numbing will be applied once the skin has been lightly opened.

Microblading is a very light cut on the surface of the skin while the powder brow machine hovers very gently over the skin.

We still get mixed reviews as everyone’s pain level sensitivity is so different. Some clients naturally feel more sore on one brow than the other but most say it’s a 3-6 out of 10 pain level.

Although numbed during the procedure, you will still hear a scratch noise/sensation and feel your skin being stretched, just no pain.

Sitting through 20 minutes of discomfort will be well worth the results. Beauty is pain after all!

  7. Is it safe?

Absolutely. All supplies are sterile and disposable meaning only used once on each individual client then thrown away.

  8. Do I need to take time off work?

There is no downtime to permanent makeup. You might have a bit of redness around the brows on the first day. They will look darker and thicker the first few days, skin will then peel or flake a little bit causing patchiness. Once all flakes or dry skin fall off, brows will look very light due to the skin still being opaque. The true color will be revealed around the 3rd to 4th week of heeling.

  9. Will I need a touch up?

Yes! Permanent makeup is a 2 step process. As all skin heals differently, results vary.

It is normal to experience a bit of pigment loss so a 4-6 weeks touch up is required as it is the perfect time immediately after the skin heals for us to perfect, fine tune, darken or go over any faded areas. Any desired changed can also be done during this session.

  10. How often do I need a touch up?

In order to keep your eyebrow tattoo results looking fresh, vibrant and rich in color we recommend a Color Boost every year or two.

This is only a guideline. If your results faded faster you can chose to come back as soon 6 months. If your results are still visible and to your liking, you can even wait as long as 2 years.

We leave it up to you whenever you are ready to get your brows freshened up.

  11. How long does it last?

Permanent makeup will never fully fade away to a clean blank canvas so we like to say they LOOK GOOD for 1-2 years and as long as they are maintained.

After the first touch up, brows are expected to fade after a year. Depending on skin retention, time in the sun and daily skin routines, the faster or slower they will fade.

For example: the more exfoliation or sun exposure, the faster, they will fade.

  12. Why do I need a touch up if this is (semi-) permanent?

Because pigment is implanted in the facial area where there is more fluid circulation than any other parts of the body. Your face sees the most wear and tear — exposure to sun, facial products, sweat, dust, pollution —the list goes on and on. Many factors causes pigment to fade as your skin cells regenerate over time. This is why you need a touch up or color boost.

  13. How long does it take to heal?

Healing time varies from individual to individual. Usually, it takes about a week to 14 days for the epithelial tissue to form. Your skin will be considered healed after that happens. The pigment then takes some time to settle into the skin. A good month should pass before we consider the process complete and ready for the first touch up (4-6 weeks).

  14. What’s the process like?

We first start by cleaning and sanitizing the treatment area. Before photos will be taken before the shaping process starts.

Brows will be measured and the brow outline will be drawn in pencil. Please note that no face is 100% symmetrical and expectations need to be realistic. Brows are shaped according to bone structure and facial features, uniquely for you.

Once we have agreed on a final shape, pictures are taken then we can start the process!

Ultimately, it is your decision but as an artist, I will always voice my opinion and suggests what I think suits you best aesthetically.

  15. How will you choose my color?

The pigment is matched to your natural brow hairs so your brows can blend with the tattoo.

Unless you tint/dye your brows are certain color permanently, then I will match it to that color.

Clients who are used to having very thin to no brows for a long time, can find this challenging. Clients who have this issue can try penciling in their brows prior so it won’t feel like such a dramatic change!

  16. Do you shave off my eyebrows?

Nope! Every attempt is made to retain as much natural hair as possible and integrate it into the design of the permanent eyebrows. In some cases, a few stray hairs here and there may need to be shaved off to create a clean and aesthetically pleasing result. No plucking or tweezing is used so brows will still grow back just as usual.
